PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Managing director, fort wayne dance collective, Inc. |  fort wayne, in   |  Jan. 2007-present

Develop and implement annual marketing plan for a $450,000 budgeted non-profit arts organization. Lead a massive rebranding initiative and conduct strategic planning sessions with staff and board. Implement strategic plans. Coordinate volunteers. Design and distribute advertising materials, newsletters, and various marketing products. Maintain technology and develop a modern online presence. Create and maintain key contacts in the nonprofit and the arts communities. Keep books and maintain accounts receivable for organization.

Features reporter/copy editor, the News-Sentinel  |  Fort Wayne, IN  |  Jan. 2006-Jan. 2007

Reported on various arts events in Fort Wayne for a 30,000-circulation daily publication. Wrote a weekly column, “Our Town,” focusing on community members with interesting stories to tell, and “Restaurant Notes,” reporting on the dining out scene in the News-Sentinel coverage area. Built contacts within the arts community. Edited copy, wrote headlines and photo cutlines for all sections of the paper.

Developed, organized and assigned news stories for content of a 5,000-circulation weekly college publication. Overhauled newsroom; upgraded software, hardware, and improved editorial workflow. Led a massive, award-winning redesign of the publication. Served on the board of directors as Vice-President after editorial tenure.

Founding Member, Young Nonprofit Professionals Network, Fort Wayne Chapter (YNPN)

Worked with a committee of 20-30 year-old nonprofit workers to start a local chapter of YNPN, which supports learning, growth,  and development of burgeoning professionals.

Member, Community Advisory board, Northeast Indiana Public Radio  |  July 2009-present

Elected to a board of community public radio listers who advise and guide NIPR’s general manager for programming. Currently organizing a community journalism program, Citizen Wayne (citizenwayne.org). It includes feature journalism focusing on compelling narrative, set to air in early 2010.

Instructing arts nonprofit organizations in the finer points of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media services, from sign-up to strategy.
